About me
My Journey to the Mountains
The mountains have been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
My father and my uncle both worked as trekking guides, and growing up, I watched them leave for the Himalayas ,returning with stories of high passes, remote villages, and powerful landscapes. The mountains were never distant dreams; they were always calling.
My first real trek was to the Lower Annapurna region, when my father and uncle took my sister and me onto the trail. Standing so close to the Himalayas for the first time, surrounded by towering peaks and endless silence, I felt something shift inside me. It was magical, overwhelming, and unforgettable. In that moment, I didn’t just see the mountains, I felt where I belonged.
After finishing college, my path was clear. While many questioned the choice, I already knew what I wanted to do. I chose to become a trekking guide.
I began by working with volunteer groups, learning not only how to lead on the trail, but how to support people from different cultures, backgrounds, and experience levels. Step by step, I grew stronger, guiding longer routes, higher trails, and eventually leading trekkers to base camps across Nepal.
Now, 9 years later, I am a licensed trekking guide who has guided clients from around the world through the Himalayas. The mountains are still magical to me but what inspires me most today is helping others experience that same sense of awe, strength, and freedom I felt on my first trek.
As a woman in an industry where female guides are rare, my journey is also about breaking barriers and opening the trail for other women to follow. Through Trek with Pratima, I am committed not only to guiding trekkers, but to creating opportunities for future female guides to lead, grow, and thrive in the mountains.
